Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss can be distressing for anyone.

You may feel a sensitive, itchy, or painful scalp.

We provide effective treatments for alopecia.

What is Alopecia?

A condition where hair falls out from the scalp, face, or body.

There are several types of alopecia, including:

Alopecia areata:

Leads to isolated, circular bald patches on the scalp.

Central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA):

Hair thins outward from the crown of the scalp.

Lichen planopilaris:

Thinning hair or bald patches, accompanied by itchy, and scaly skin.

Androgenetic alopecia:

Causes a receding hairline, hair loss on the top and front of the head.

Telogen effluvium:

Temporary hair loss, triggered by stress or a traumatic event.

What Causes Alopecia?

Various factors can contribute to hair loss, such as:

Autoimmune Disease:

The immune system attacks the hair follicles, halting hair growth.

Genetics:

Family history of hair loss.

Hair Products:

Using hot oils and chemical relaxers increases the risk of Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA). They irritate the scalp and scar hair follicles, leading to hair loss.

Hairstyles:

Certain styles can damage hair follicles, resulting in traction alopecia.

Hormones:

Androgens control hair growth in men and women. High levels can cause hair loss. It leads to male-pattern baldness in men and hair thinning in women.

Nutritional Deficiencies:

A diet lacking in essential vitamins and nutrients can impact hair growth.

Common Treatments for Hair Loss

Oral or Topical Minoxidil:

Slows hair loss and encourages new hair growth. It may be used with a topical corticosteroid.

Topical Corticosteroids:

Reduces hair follicle inflammation, which helps stimulate hair growth. Often used in combination with other therapies.

Topical Anthralin:

An anti-inflammatory agent, that can promote hair regrowth. It involves applying the product to bald patches daily, with a wash-off time of about an hour.

Topical Immunotherapy:

Creams that alter the immune response, causing a controlled allergic rash, which can stimulate hair growth.

Corticosteroid Injections:

Stimulates hair follicles to grow new hair. A steroid solution is injected into and around bald patches every six to eight weeks.

Finasteride:

Reduces dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that shrinks hair follicles in men. It can help stop hair loss and promote regrowth.

Spironolactone :

Blocks the effects of androgens, which contribute to hair thinning and loss.

Vitamins and Supplements:

Vitamin deficiencies affect hair growth. We evaluate your dietary intake and test for deficiencies. They include:

Iron: Essential for healthy blood flow, which can impact hair growth.

Vitamin D: Plays a role in the hair follicle cycle and hair regeneration.

Zinc: Important for hair tissue growth and repair.
