DOT Physicals
Healthy Heights Clinic will soon be offering DOT exams. DOT Physical Certification Exams will be included in the membership fee for all members. The fee for non-members will be $150.
After completing your DOT physical, your results will be sent electronically to the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). You will receive your medical exam card on-site.

What is a DOT (Department of Transportation) Physical?
All commercial drivers with a CDL are required to undergo an examination every two years. This examination, mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, assesses the mental and physical health of commercial drivers.
Are CDL Physicals the Same as DOT Physicals?
The DOT exam, also known as the CDL exam, is required to obtain a CDL. Most commercial drivers need a CDL, which requires a medical examiner’s (ME) certificate that is acquired after passing the DOT physical.
During a DOT Physical We Perform the Following?
- Obtain a blood pressure and heart rate
- Test vision & hearing
- Urinalysis
Physical Examination
- General appearance (weight, tremors, drug/alcohol problems)
- Mouth & Throat (breathing and swallowing)
- Lungs & Chest (breathing)
- Abdomen & Organs (unusual masses, hernias, weakness)
- Vascular System (weak pulse, blood flow, varicose veins)
- Limbs (Loss or damage, weakness)
- Skeletal (limitation, tenderness)
- Neurological (balance, reflexes, speech)
What Do I Need to Bring to the DOT or CDL physical?
- A valid driver's license
- Prescription glasses or contact lenses
- Hearing aids
- A list of your current medications
- Medical history
- Drivers are required to disclose if they have any of the following:
- Brain injuries
- Epilepsy/Seizures
- Hearing loss
- Diabetes (Insulin dependence)
- Impaired vision
- Stroke
- Missing limbs
- Chronic pain
- High blood pressure
- Color blindness
- History of alcoholism or drug use
- Heart attack or heart disease
- Kidney disease
